Prior to the release of this movie, each and every one of us had a set perception of Jim Carrey. The stupid, funny and over-dramatic goon who gives you the instinct to pull your hair out, but probably the only guy in the world who can ever carry off such a look. The big relief is that we get to see him in a much sober version of his original self, which has been well received. Carl Allen (Carrey) is a demotivated, isolated and bored dude. He cant muster up the courage to say 'yes' for anything. Be it going out with friends, approving loans for his customers, dating woman or anything else that could probably make his life more interesting. A friend of his introduces him to a self-help group which motivates him to say 'yes' to things rather than saying 'no'. From that day on, he says 'yes' for every opportunity that comes his way, be it giving a homeless guy all his money, going to bed with his almost-eighty years old neighbour, dating Persian women or going for unplanned vacations with Allison (Deschanel) a girl he randomly met and hardly knows. From 'no'body, he soon becomes a 'yes'body and is the most happening man in town. What he doesn't know, is that he ends up saying 'yes' for everything, without weighing the options and takes some decisions he doesn't want to. The movie takes on a different aspect which previous motivational movies have not tread upon. You get a little fed up of watching him say yes to everything that comes by his way and the movie becomes a little repetitive and predictable.
