Ben Thomas (Smith) is a happily married American citizen. On a fateful night, due to his fault, there was a terrible car accident in which seven lives were lost including his wife's. Repenting the mistake, he decides to redeem his life by saving the life of seven completely strange individuals as an act of forgiveness. He uses his brothers IRS credentials and poses as a federal officer to reach out and help people. In the midst of this, he ends up meeting and falling in love with Emily Posa (Dawson) who is also a heart patient and has very little of her life left. Most of the movie shows the how friendship turns to love between them and finally the commitment. The movie is excruciatingly slow and a bit boring. You don't even know what and why are things happening and the movie is lost for quite some time. Give it time and its true colours show. The only reason to invest two hours is for the end ten minutes which turns the entire plot around also your perception about the movie. No matter how many times you might want to switch to something else, don't do it and you wont regret it. The movie shows what low-life, greedy, selfish, ignorant animals we all are.
