Starring: Christian Bale, Steve Zahn
Some movies just don’t improve. Rescue Dawn has the very typical war movie story. Soldier gets lost in some god-forsaken place and needs to be rescued. Hasn't the Behind Enemy Lines series of movies over-done that already? Based on a real life story during the Vietnam War, Lieutenant Dieter Dengler's (Christian Bale) plane crashes somewhere in the jungles of Vietnam and gets captured by the Vietcong. He meets Duane (Zahn) and other American POW (Prisoners of War) who collectively team up and escape, which they do and get rescued by the American forces. Sounds familiar? Very familiar! The beginning and end seem to keep your interest alive but somewhere in the middle the movie just drags on endlessly.
